I am doing a review, and I wanted clarification on the price ranges. I was wondering if someone could give me an idea of the price difference between “Premium” and “luxury”?
Price is really subjective — for some people, $100 is a lot; for others, it’s no big deal. And for a few… does that even count as money? ![]()
You can think of Premium as high-end — a bit pricey, but still manageable if you’re willing to splurge for a better experience.
Luxury, on the other hand, is more like a true luxury item — not something for everyday use, and definitely not priced for the average shopper. It’s indulgent in both feel and cost.
I mean according to that it would be a luxury item but the “not everyday use” confuses me.
I think for some products, “everyday use” just isn’t feasible or best for preserving a toy. ie, the RealDoll RealCock 2 models - they’re luxury priced, but they’re also incredibly delicate toys that are each individually hand-poured & hand-painted. Using them every day may decrease the overall longevity of the product, as wear & tear is a real thing that happens even when you’re realllllly careful.
You are killing it here, going straight to the RealCock 2 models for comparison. At least go for Bad Dragon, Mr.Hankey or something similar. RealCock is — a good deal beyond what most would consider luxury in the current climate. (joking aside — I LOVE the fact that you went straight for Realcock instead of Lelo or Sylk. It’s a brand that doesn’t get highlighted enough. I’d give you a sticker, if I had a place to send it.) ^.^
Hope I’m not too late to add in another viewpoint. The difference between Luxury and Premium, I think we also do need to address (in the review, if not in the tiers) – what those levels can mean to the consumer themselves. The difference in economic states right now is wider than it’s been for a bit, and that directly effects our readers. I’d almost argue we should add a “Once in a Lifestyle Purchase”, or a “Platinum Quality, Platinum Expense” above the level of Luxury – because there are absolutely toys (like the aforementioned RealCock 2) which are above what most (right now) would consider Luxury, but can still be seen as “worth the investment”. (and the titles I used are obviously not serious suggestions – but c’mon, at least give me a giggle for trying–)
The “Price” section in the review doesn’t need to be too serious — just go with your personal feeling. If it seems okay to you, that’s totally fine! It’s simply for display and doesn’t count toward the overall score.
I guess my idea of luxury is maybe a bit skewed ![]()
But in seriousness, I also wouldn’t consider Hankey’s under a luxury umbrella - they’re pricey, sure, but they’re also pricey simply because of the size of the toys. Bad Dragon is at least making specialty pours that are unique and, at this point, expected. Hankey’s are primarily single color pours, maybe a marble if you pay extra, but specialty pours are not their thing.
Fantasticocks Fantasy Toys are really nice. And hand poured. We have an ovipositer from them we really like.
