Do you care about realism in toys? 🤔

Hey guys!
We’ve used many toys lately, and something keeps popping up: Does “real feel” actually matter?

We actually do care about realism – at least a little
Even though we know a toy can never fully feel real – there’s no person, no connection, no context – we still catch ourselves comparing.
Leni and I both find ourselves thinking about how a sensation lines up with the “real thing.” It’s kind of natural, right?

At the same time, a lot of toys offer totally unique sensations. Whether it’s a sleeve or a vibrator – we often reach for something because it feels different, not because it imitates real sex.

Especially when writing reviews, we always wonder:
Do people even care if a toy feels realistic?
Or is that just our thing?

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Do you care about realism?
:backhand_index_pointing_right: Do you compare it to real-life sex?
:backhand_index_pointing_right: Or are you just here for that fantasy experience?

Let us know! We’d love to hear your take :speech_balloon:

  • :fire: Realism – I want it to feel as close to real as possible
  • :rainbow: Unique sensations – I love what toys can do beyond reality
  • Depends on the mood – sometimes realism, sometimes fantasy
  • :woman_shrugging: Doesn’t matter – if it feels good, I’m in

Great question!

For me, it all comes down to how good the experience actually feels in the end. A toy can have the prettiest packaging and all the hype, but if it doesn’t deliver that ooof yes feeling? Hard pass.

I don’t really care if it feels “real” or not — especially because I usually watch videos while using toys, so the stimulation is more mental + physical than “realism.”

Also, let’s be honest — toys can do things real bodies just can’t. Like, can you go nonstop at full intensity for an hour? Or spin like a vortex? Nope. But toys can.

So yeah, for me it’s not about realism — it’s about results. :collision: Curious to see what others think!

Keeping it as real as possible is what I find myself looking for but at the same time I am open to experiencing something that’s differently stimulating and innovative. Some toy designs are aimed to achieve max stimulation while some want be as real as possible. Sex toys are definitely there to enhance my intimate life but I want to be able to keep my pleasure expectations real with my partner. There are cases with over stimulation sets unrealistic expectations and make actual partnered sex feel unsatisfying.
I am working on review where I am going to be talking more on this, can’t wait to share my thoughts with you guys!!

I don’t really care about realism. As long as it feels good, I’m fine with it. Lately, I’ve been really into fantasy/monster dildos, so it’s about as far from realism as you can get! :joy:

I prefer they don’t look realistic. It feels weird to me, to be holding a disembodied penis. I prefer if they look like a penis that it be purple or something non realistic. Monster dildos are an exception. I like those looking fantasy or realistic to animal phallus’.

I agree with others, good question. For me, it doesn’t really matter what it looks like, its what it feels like and what it does to/for me. I have one toy (I’m a guy) that if I am need to get off fast or slow, it is my go to. For slow, I can have it on my penis for a long time, sliding it up and down building excitement (see my review at Male Masturbator/Artificial Vaginal from AliExpress - ToyChats). If I need something fast, I turn on the vibration mode and within seconds of touching the head of my penis I am coming.
