As the title says, how do you approach reviews, both reading and writing them? Do you go for length and in-depth or do you go quick and to the point? And which type do you prefer to read? Do you care about the packaging and unboxing reveal or do you want to just see the actual toy and how it works? Do you like comparisons to similar toys or prefer to just think about what the one toy can do?
If you’re in the Telegram group, you probably saw me ask the same question. (If you get telegram for the first time, make sure to change your privacy stuff! People can see your phone number as default)
Personally, I like to write objective reviews, going over the pros and cons, regardless of how I liked it as a user on myself. I will include some references to my own use, but only for the sake of understanding the experience objectively. While I don’t care for unboxing videos, I review the packaging as well, as I can see how that’s part of the process, including how it is shipped, as well as that I know some people keep their toys in the package.
On the other hand, when I am reading reviews, I just want a quick to-the-point objective review. I want the various details about it and whether it’s good or bad, but I don’t need a Wikipedia page.
Definitely not 100. I’ll have to double check the numbers themselves, if I even can, but there are only a few of us active there. You do get pretty quick replies from others in the group though, so you’re not waiting on a repair for long.
When writing a review, I personally think you should focus on what the user wants to know. The goal of a review is to tell people who are interested in the product what it’s really like — what the features are, the pros and cons, who it’s best suited for, or what kinds of scenarios it works well in.
Start from your own perspective, then think about the common questions users might have, and add your personal opinion. Pair that with some photos or videos, and you’ve got yourself a solid review!
I definitely like to take my take my time and go in-depth, within reason. Definitely changes depending on the toy. Comparisons to other toys help me, so I add it to my reviews when relevant.
But for any toy I definitely think about what the people reading it would be asking, and that’s really what my reviews boil down to cause that’s what matters the most. I personally love a toy with a premium unboxing experience, love great first impressions.
personally, I prefer to read reviews over watch videos, but I have an audio processing disorder that makes me retain more when I read something over watching something.
I also want more details! I want to know what worked/didn’t work and why. The more information provided by the review about their own anatomy & pleasure preferences, the better. Just because something worked for them, doesn’t mean it’ll work for me, so the more specific they can get, the more helpful their reviews become to me!
Be honest when writing reviews, whether you had a good or bad experience is exactly what people want to know! Write from the heart and make sure it is at least 800 words with 5 pictures
